Steps Toward Learning Internet Marketing
I remember reading a quote a while back that simply went something like, “if you want to learn how to lead, be a leader.” To me, this means that if you eventually want to reach a higher level with anything, you need to take steps to practice and hone your skills. On that same note, learning internet marketing and all about the web is no exception to the rule. You need to start small and gain experience. So I have taken my first step in self-educating with a blog on my own website.
I have close to five years of corporate sales and marketing experience and am halfway through my MBA. A few months back, I realized if I was going to stay in marketing and in-line with the times, then it was time to think bigger than my facebook page. I will be spending the next year or so absorbing as much information as I can about the web. Using this site as a starting point, I hope to put in practice new marketing techniques that will be helpful to myself or to any future employer.
I plan on making a blog entry each week (depending on my homework load) discussing any new tools or technologies that have caught my eye or may be of use to anyone else who may happen to stumble upon this humble website. I will also spotlight podcasts that are of interest to anyone who may be in similar positions as myself. Let’s see just how BIG an animal the web really is.
