Google Registration and Search Engine Optimization

Posted by admin on April 21st, 2009

seoThis week I have tackled getting www.erinwiles.com registered with Google and optimized for the web. Before this site began, I had no idea that you had to actually register your site with Google. I was under the impression that if you had a site, Google automatically knew it. To my chagrin, I wasted a fair amount of time looking for my ranking through 25 pages of Google before giving up. I did learn, however, that there are a number of web references to Erin Wiles. There are three of us: Myself, Erin Wiles of Nashville, and Erin Wiles of Cincinnati.

Currently, I am somewhere between first on page two or last on page 1. My goal over the next few weeks is to make enhancements to www.erinwiles.com to improve its search engine optimization. To do this I will begin linking to a number of different sites and have as many link back to mine. I will also start publicizing the site more by including it in my email signature. I will be using Google Analytics to monitor how many hits I get and how the site progresses.

All-in-all, the goal is to get to #1.
