Free Online Resume Tool: Create, Share, Store Your Resume

Move over Monster and Career Builder, there is a “new” kid in town to help empower potential employees in finding their dream job. That “new” kid is Emurse.com (anagram for “resume”). With all the big career search websites becoming less and less of a relevant or reliable means of finding a job this online tool is designed to let the employee take control of their own job hunt.
Emurse is free and with it you get a number of useable features including the ability to post up to two resumes online. These two resumes are available for download in a number of different formats (pdf, doc, rtf, html, plain text). You also have the capability to send someone your resume directly from Emurse or through your own email, something that could potentially impress an HR representative and make you stand out from the other candidates (because you have awesome and superior computer and web skills). Not only is it a great tool to send your resume, it is an even better tool to store your resume in one place and have all formats of your resume updated as you make changes.
And the real icing on the cake? You actually receive an email notification each time your resume is opened, downloaded, or printed through Emurse. This email also tells you the what, when, where, who, and from in regards to who viewed your resume.
i.e. –
What: “Main” Resume – Webpage (the name of the resume you created)
When: Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 02:42:08 PM (the date/time, enough said)
Where: Memphis, TN, United States (estimated location where the viewing took place)
Who: comcast.net (the server used to view, could also show what company viewed it)
From: http://www.erinwiles.com/site/about/ (the website that lead them there)
Other great benefits include separate pages where potential employees can view your answers to most commonly asked interview questions, custom cloud view of your talents, and place where you can state exactly what you are looking for in a potential employer. See my Emurse resume page here.
Emurse is a great tool to empower those looking for a job, but if you are still one who likes to look at search sites, I would steer clear of monster, etc. Instead, go to simplyhired.com. This website compiles the available jobs from all the major search engines, with minimal spam and bogus job postings. You can also customize your job search and receive weekly alerts. Most employment sites do automated alerts, but simplyhired has more relevant listings than the others and has proven, to me, to be a better solution to those on the job hunt.
