Pimp Your iPhone App like James Cameron
How could an independent iPhone developer easily and effectively get their App noticed? They could start by taking notes from masters of directing James Cameron or Steven Spielberg and become their own app movie director. With around 140,000 apps currently in the app store, it is extremely difficult to get your app noticed by potential buyers unless you have decent marketing budget, an extremely remarkable app, or some amazing connections with top-notch reviewers.
The best case scenario for an independent developer on a minimal budget would be to start a promotion campaign leading with a YouTube video to generate app buzz (and hopefully some viral video action). For this to work and a video to go viral, you can’t create every-day ordinary demo of what you app can do; it has to have an edge. Adding an entertainment factor with a splash of humor and you have the cocktail for video views (even if it is just your own circle of friends).
Below are some YouTube videos I found that are simple, easy to make on a nil budget, are effective in reaching an audience, and even show the app in action. Some have obviously been created by companies with bigger budgets, but all are easy to mimic with a simple flip cam, a little creativity, and alot of humor.
