Late last year, I joined a newly forming group of women in technology. We named ourselves CodeXX and as we’ve been growing and getting our group organized we’ve been looking at all new directions we can take our group of women coders. The purpose of this group is to further expand our coding knowledge so it was a natural choice for our first group project to be one where we create a web application.
After attending the Code for America kick off and a brief brainstorming session, our group decided to create an online resource guide to connect new Chattanoogans to people and places in their community: Chattanewbie. Continue reading
Being a second time mom you start out with this extra sense of confidence and feel sometimes like there is very little you can be taught…WRONG! There is still so much I am learning or re-learning everyday. Which leads me to the topic of this post – Brewer’s yeast. I had never heard of such a thing until a month ago but low and behold do a search on Pinterest and you’ll see 1000′s of different ways to make brewer’s yeast cookies – aka “lactation cookies”. The ingredients in these cookies (oats, flax seed, brewer’s yeast, etc.) help nursing moms stimulate their milk supply.
